She has galaxies in her fingertips. That’s why he feels stars igniting in his lungs when she so much as grazes against his cheek. Suddenly he knows what it’s like to create stories, compose melodies and weave words into poems, just by brushing your fingertips across someone’s skin.
He takes a breath and instantly, she knows that, whatever words follow, will be so profoundly heartbreaking that they will crease her velvet heart forever.
“You make me feel so much myself it hurts.”
She wasn’t wrong. He says simple words and the cosmos unravel from his mouth. She collects the falling stars in the dip of her collarbone, lightly strums the strings of his heart and the air seems heavy as she speaks,
“I’m only half myself without you.”
